Dr. Oz’s 2-Week Rapid Weight Loss Challenge
I’m at it again. I haven’t gone on a diet in over two to almost three years. I’ve gained weight and lost it. The roller-coaster up and down weight loss has been hitting me hard. Plus, after having a second child and breastfeeding for 19 months, I gave up eating like a human being really should eat. I’ve never really known how to eat healthy for my body type. So of course, the realization hit me a week ago that I’m at a weight I don’t want to be at. I’m uncomfortable in my clothes. I’m uncomfortable in my body. I cannot STAND to be this weight. I started searching the internet for easy diets. Diets that will kick start my weight loss and help me stay eating healthy for the rest of my life (with some fun stuff in between!).
I found Dr. Oz’s 2-Week Rapid Weight Loss Challenge and decided it was time to eat healthy. My husband is currently going through Academy and we both decided to do this together. He has not been sticking exactly to it as I have, but he is losing weight. I will give you my beginning weight and by the 20th of March, 2017, I will post an update and final thoughts on this Challenge so you guys know how or if it worked!
Beginning Weight & Diet Thoughts
- Weight Start: 217
I love my food, I love flavor, I love unhealthy food. I’m always one to stick to a diet until the end but I’m used to going back to the way I ate before. We went to the store and I enjoyed picking out a ton of leafy vegetables. I’m particularly fond of cabbage, celery, broccoli and several other greens that are on the challenge list. It was very interesting to see what I can and cannot have. However, I was very nervous starting this diet because I was scared I wouldn’t like the food. I’m not sure how long I can last without the seasonings, but I have to make it through. Detoxing is not fun and sometimes eating healthy isn’t the most fun thing in the world. We shall see what the 20th brings us!
4 Days Into Diet
- Weight after 4 days: 211
- Weight Dropped: 6 pounds
Four days in I am enjoying the diet. I do not work out but I am active with my children and I am on my feet at work for at least 6 hours. The food is easy to fix and snack on, however I noticed that it is very difficult to eat food that is barely seasoned! I cannot put any seasonings on it except for balsamic vinegar, olive oil and black pepper. I LOVE my seasonings, as you read in the beginning. Most of the vegetables I use have flavoring. I recommend sautéing onions with mushrooms in the balsamic vinegar with olive oil and cooking the chicken in the oven or frying it on the stove. Those work the best for seasoning.
We purchased tilapia as you are allowed 6 oz. of meat a day. I usually do this for dinner and I never eat before 8 am or after 8 pm. Around 9 pm I take a Detox Bath which consists of Epsom Salts and Baking Soda. I soak in this for a little over 10 minutes. This bath is the best thing that has EVER happened to me. When I am done with this diet I plan on doing this bath a few times a week just to sooth myself, or soak my feet. The mixture of the salt and soda has cleaned my skin and left my body feeling refreshed. I usually have achy feet and a bad back, but this has helped me out so much. I feel so much better than I did before I started the diet and the baths.
8 Days Into Diet
- Weight after 4 days: 209
- Weight Dropped: 8 pounds
I splurged on Saturday and had a very small milkshake. I still followed the diet to plan. We went to the Dinosaur BBQ after spending time at the Museum (where we walked for over 5 hours!). I ordered a simple 10 oz chicken, tomato and cucumber salad and coleslaw. It was absolutely delicious and everything that was on the Dr. Oz requirements list, with some extra seasoning. I thoroughly enjoyed it but the milkshake made my stomach pretty upset. Sunday I did my regular plan and worked through the rest of the day with the meals and enjoyed some of my left overs from the night before. The same stuff I am allowed to have.
Today (Monday, day 8), I decided to add some additional foods in. This includes my coffee. You are not allowed coffee or any other sugar and dairy in your diet. However, I get massive headaches and migraines if I do not have my coffee. Even the cup of green tea a day is not enough for me. I also stopped taking all of the detox baths every night. Instead, I do them every other night. Mind you, I am a female (and it is that time of the month <– TMI). It has been difficult with my cravings, but I have skirted them and have not eaten all of the requirements daily because I am too full even after my morning smoothie.
Final Diet Day
I figured this was a good time to stop doing the diet entirely. After 8 days, I have dropped 8 pounds and I am planning on doing the same plan but adding just a little more seasonings in. No more bread, no more wheat products, no more butter or fast food. I ate these things on a daily basis (minus the fast food daily). I would snack on bread and even have a couple bowls of cereal a day.I feel SO much healthier after a week of being on the detox diet. This was the best thing I have ever tried and I highly recommend it to anyone who can stomach doing it for a long time. Dr. Oz does have a 10 day weight loss plan, which is probably what I will do for another two days and then not so much. I plan on getting down under 200 and staying around 175 if I can help it.
My body build is much larger than normal women and my bone structure makes it so I look very unhealthy if I am under a certain weight. I also have a lot of muscle in my legs and arms that may seem like I am chubby but I definitely am not.
Again, I recommend this and I will not be doing an update next Monday as this is my final step of the plan. Thanks everyone!
I will post an update on the 20th of March with the final day and final weight loss total. Including how I made it through! Day four and the food is not amazing but I’m trying!
